What's Going On

The Annual St. Francisville Fish Fry and Fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 18th at River Park. The Fish Fry runs from 11 AM until 6 PM and fireworks will be lit after dark. The event is put on by St. Francisville Community Improvement.

Kids Equipped to Achieve has registration now open for their annual backpack distribution. Distribution day is July 25th at First Christian Church, 319 Broadway Street in Vincennes. . You can register online thru their website, KETAKids.com. The distribution is open to those in grades K-12 who attend school in Knox County.

School is just around the corner and Walmart is teaming up with The Salvation Army on July 31st, August 1st, and August 8th to Stuff the Trailer and support our area teachers. Officials with the Salvation Army say that Pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, tissues, disinfecting wipes, and copy paper are the biggest needs. Whether you donate one item or a cart full, every contribution helps support local teachers and students. The donations will benefit classrooms in the Vincennes Community, North Knox, and South Knox School Systems.

There will be a fundraiser benefit for Danny Archer at Adam’s Coliseum on Saturday August 1st, beginning at 5 PM. There will be a BBQ dinner, silent and live auctions, and a DJ on hand. All proceeds will go directly towards medical expenses and supporting Danny and the Archer Family.

The Village of Oblong, Illinois will be holding a free family movie night on August 1st. The movie will be Zootopia 2. Concessions will be available beginning at 7 PM with the movie starting at dusk. The free movie night will take place at the Mini Park, about a block south of the 4-way in the one and only Oblong.

The All Rise for Ryan’s 5k will take place on Saturday, September 5th in Vincennes. The race steps off at 8 am at the Knox County Courthouse and travels through historic Downtown Vincennes and through area of Vincennes University. The entry fee is $15 for the family fun 1 mile run and $30 for the 5K race. Proceeds benefit the Knox County Drug Court Foundation and their goal to help those in the drug court program achieve long-term sobriety.
